Your Monthly Round-Up From the Travel Creator Network
π Welcome to the Travel Creator Network's August round-up, and a special welcome to the 173 new creators who joined since last time. We're now over 1,000 strong, thanks for your support!
This edition has lots of updates from the broader creator space, though it was pretty quiet in our little travel corner. Don't miss the 'Interesting Reads' at the end, where I've shared three personal and very relatable posts from fellow creators.
Happy reading, Kieren (more about me at the end).
P.S. My friend Bel (@belaroundtheworld) has a deal on her Skyrocket with SEO course right now (she really knows her stuff when it comes to SEO!) - sign up before 2/8 and get several bonuses, including a free YouTube SEO course.

My Take: This could be great for sites with constant fresh information, but I'm not convinced it will be that helpful for evergreen blog content. Still, innovations like this are very welcome.
PUBLISHERS UNITE TO DISCUSS AN END TO AI CONTENT THEFT - On a similar theme, 80 execs representing web publishers (including Mediavine) gathered to discuss ways to stop AI companies profiting from their content without credit or compensation.
My Take: These proposals look more promising, including the idea of paying publishers every time AI uses their content in an answer. Google attended the event, which is a good sign, though OpenAI didn't.
YOUTUBE INTRODUCES A/B TESTING OF TITLES - While thumbnail A/B testing has been available for over a year, creators can now provide three title variations for testing too.

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE GOOGLE EXECUTIVES WHO KILLED MY BUSINESS - In this post, Mike Hardaker (Mountain News Weekly) says that he feels gaslit by Google after their Creator Summit. The post was originally on LinkedIn, but I'm sharing a related Reddit thread as the comments are worth a read.
THE (HONEST) STATE OF TRAVEL & POINTS BLOGGING - Ben (One Mile at a Time) shared a very personal post about the changes in the travel & points blogging space and how it's impacted him and his business. He covers the growth of short-form content and the challenges of algorithm updates and AI.
